Here at Aquarium Pro we are able to special order in freshwater fish, saltwater fish, coral, pond fish as well as aquarium and pond supplies for our customers to be picked up in store. We also have a large selection of second hand tanks and supplies in store for our customers. We do not ship fish or products directly to customers and we try to place our special orders at the same time as our regular shipments. Tropical fish & products you see on our website are there for your reference so you are able to see what we can order, not what we currently have in stock. That does not guarentee that our suppliers will currently have what you are looking for but if they do then we will get it special ordered in for you. Pictures you see would be of that type of fish not the exact fish we would be ordering in. If the fish shows out of stock that does not mean we do not currently have it in store so feel free to give us a call at the shop so we can verify for you. We are in the process of getting our inventory updated so online quanities will eventually be able to accurately display what quanities we have in store. We require a minium non refundable 50% deposit for special orders once we verify the supplier does have them in stock. If none of our suppliers have it in stock then we will issue a refund with 7 days. We ask that special orders be picked up within a week of arrival or we offer quarantining services for special order fish at $15 a week per tank. Please ensure you do proper research to verify what are compatible tankmates for your new fish and their care requirments. Feel free to give us a call if you need to verify any tankmate and or care needs of specific fish. A fish is only as hardy as the environment we put it in so ensuring your aquarium has completed the nitrogen cycle prior to adding fish is crucial to ensuring our new fish do well.

The Checkered Barb is a small friendly fish that is prefect for any community aquarium with other small species that will not be disturbed by the lively demeanor of this fish. Male checkered barbs can often fight and it is therefore best to keep only one male with several females if you are keeping them in a smaller aquarium. In a larger aquarium you can keep several males and females, provided that the aquarium is properly decorated. Provide dense planted areas and open swimming spaces. Will acclimatize well to water conditions outside of its natural range. Keep in groups of three or more. A good tankmate for timid fish.
